Transition Model Ithaca Hanging Library Double-Dial Calendar Clock

An excellent example of an Ithaca Calendar Clock Company Model No. 6 “Hanging Library.” This is a transition model between the earlier “single finial” variant and the more frequently seen “carved top” style.

• Item: AC-5
• Approximate date: ca. 1880
• Dimensions: ca. 28″ H × 12″ W × 5″ D
• Case: Black walnut case veneer is complete and intact; case and bracket retain their original finish
• Design notes: Later model features such as burl walnut veneer are combined with earlier characteristics including the arch top, bottom trim, and pendulum door style
• Bracket: Detachable bottom bracket is original and allows conversion to a shelf clock if desired
• Backboard: Original backboard with repair dates
• Movement: Eight-day hour-striking Welch-signed movement, at right
• Calendar mechanism: Horton perpetual calendar mechanism, dials, and bezels are original to the case
• Calendar rollers: Original, with no losses or nicks
• Condition notes: Nickel-plated bezels; original nickel-faced bob visible through the “umbrella” opening in the calendar dial; original hands and glass; 7″ calendar dial and 5″ time dial
